Creation of the African Space Agency gives humanity a chance to pause and to think about what do we want to achieve next. Do we want existing low risk stability, or do we want to undertake major scientific research to invent the alternative to the rockets, to invent very powerful mobile energy source, to invent new methods for radiation and dust shielding of the space ships, to invent new communication methods. The accent is on inventing new things, not on using or innovating existing ones.
Clean start in the Africans case gives humanity the opportunity to evolve, to learn from the mistakes of the past made by the existing space agencies. (who doesn't make mistakes?)
Based on the modern knowledge about the humans, and the goals of some countries to create knowledge based economy, we can model the concept of the new social organization which evolves the space agency paradigm.
Imagine Knowledge Based Society, where dreaming and motivated teenager does have a chance to participate in the real space projects by doing small bits of the job, by learning in the process the stuff in even more deeper level with far greater understanding than it is happening today. It is risky to employ them in the high risk missions, but, when it is about the hunt for the anti gravity, there never are too much of motivated analytical minds.
Later, while progressing with the learning, that young human could have his day filled with the learning, with the teaching of younger ones to earn some part of his salary, and doing more autonomous tasks in this new kind of space agency to earn the other part of his salary. And if he wants to be financially well doing, he can do some contract jobs for the commercial organizations.
The basic idea is this minimal salary for the learning and inventing, with the options to get the extras of the life by contributing to the world of commerce. The minimal salary should have practically no entrance criteria.
What is more right, the unemployment salary, the depression in some primitive working place, the waste of trained resources, or young scientist's salary in the space camp where you can evolve at your own pace and get new assignments based on your achievements?
Creation of the African Space Agency can help bring to the life new standard of living for the humans. Sometimes it is easier to begin in an empty place. Could we afford to miss such a chance?
The new agency can also become the standard of how space agencies interact with the world of commerce.
The agency could keep the focus just on inventing new things, and sell the patents to the world of commerce. No research outsourcing - this will ensure that all of the financing is used to pay salaries for even more scientists.
As there will be no ordinary projects in this agency, there won't be a chance to choose lower risk projects to ensure the stability of life for an individual.
Surely, there are so many ways to improve the paradigm of space agency, based on our current experience in those things.
So, no matter what is our location on this planet, it is our obligation to contribute to the creation process of the African Space Agency. Doing it will help us all to evolve. |
I am sure that an African Space Agency will be a great success.
