William Harry MookUsing off-the-shelf engine technology, and off-the-shelf air-frame  technology to construct vehicles derived from the external tank is a  low-cost way to build a fully reusable multi-stage heavy lift  launcher.  Putting objects into orbit for less than $1,000 per ton!

ET Derived Launcher Recovered mid-flight

Equipping an ET derived air-frame with an annular aerospike nozzle, fed by three RS-68 pump-sets creates a flexible reusable space launch system.

The cost per launch is less than $500,000 - with propellant costs of  $90,000.

The propellant stores the energy needed for each launch, which is then combined at a rate to produce thrust as needed during ascent.

Propellant comes from a 9 sq km installation of solar collectors that make hydrogen and oxygen from sunlight and water near the launch complex.  The cryogenic gases are stored for use, providing not only energy for the launch complex, but also propellant for daily launches of vehicles using a fleet of 5 vehicles - consisting of 35 elements.
