Moon Colony Will Help Humanity to Evolve

Sandijs AploksThe process itself of colony establishment on the Moon and running it for the first decades will provoke significant evolution of the humanity.

Today, we are used too much to steal, buy, recruit ready made inventions, not to invent by ourselves. We are a little bit afraid of radical changes and taking significant risks. We have lost a lot of that spirit of discovering and creating new things which was common in the past centuries. For that we can thank our instincts, intellectual divide, and modern business management quasi-sciences.

Imagine some group of humans, willing to create new kind of social organization which will work on creating the alternative to the rockets. Imagine some other group of humans, willing to establish new kind of city, autonomous like the space ship, where improved social organizations would govern right from the start.

Won't that create some counter reaction? Even if the results would be useful.

Where to establish that organization, or that city, to not become the enemy, to not brake the habits of some country, to not cross anybody's zone of influence? Where to find that sweet spot on this planet?

The only choice that comes in mind is the Moon. The Moon is here, so close, so inviting, so neutral.

On this planet we can observe how quickly various groups of humans copy successful knowledge and behavior from the other people. Even in the freedom most suppressing countries. From that we can deduce, that, if somebody will create new kind of social organization, or even the city, these inventions will momentarily be copied by all other countries as very useful knowledge with high priority for implementation. Strange, isn't it?

This is main argument why do we need that Moon base. We need the Moon base to introduce radical changes into our world from aside. To evolve.

The process of planning Moon base establishment will force us to re-examine public money and private industry interaction.

The shortage of qualified labor that has the ability to get things done will be so high that it will trigger formation of a lot of new companies which will be in young and fit shape to invent new things, entirely new things, not just to do the business.

Establishment of myriad of new high-tech companies will create new crediting boom for the banking industry. The whole new “Moon bubble” will form. The economic activity will increase, especially in the intelligent industries sector.

Establishment of transportation industry to the Moon will create that economy of scale about which many rocket builders are talking about to reduce the costs of flight and to spur a wave of new innovations in this sphere.

It is important to notice, that the need for even better transportation methods to the Moon will trigger processes to find alternatives to the rockets at the volumes like never before, because of the real business case and high market demand. That old myth about Vimanas will look quite pale on the background of the reality of new ideas and inventions in spaceflight industry.

The building process of large Moon base will be something for every serious property development company. Construction workers and engineers will have very good times again.

That technological and jobs creation part of creating and maintaining the colony on the Moon is just one small part of what the humanity will get out of this project.

The evolution of the humanity will be pushed forwards by what we will learn by living in such a Moon base. Whole new social issues will arrive to be solved by new methods only.

Basically, it is about the population quality maintenance, about elevated self-control in very alerting environment, the connection with the objective reality which our societies are loosing these days through the narrow specialization of the people and the disconnection from the wild nature.

Having kids on this base will change how we are used to instinctively deal with our replication and education issues on the Earth. Such criminal irresponsibility in over populated environments which is observable right now on the Earth will be unimaginable in this colony. All of the children will be literally forced to get education, and all of them will be trained to know, what the real work is.

Imagine, how many factors will be analyzed and modeled in the real action of creating a city on the Moon. What a river of new ideas will flow out of the project of this magnitude! Imagine what the future for the humans race could be like, once we stop instinctively sabotaging our future.

We need to create and sustain shining city on the Moon just like we sustain the temples, for example. To achieve something spiritual. Imagine the significance of building a temple on the Moon, in that city.

The Moon base is quite attainable in the very near future, and that sudden shift of attention towards the Mars is like sabotage to our process of evolution, because large scale activities on the Mars will happen only in the distant future, if will happen at all. The humanity needs to evolve now, not after a hundreds of years.

There is a small but energetic group inside NASA now that is pushing the idea of a Lunar Research Park; a research base, starting robotically, and using innovative public/private and university partnerships that would eventually lead to a lunar university there. America and many other countries continue to have and expand research bases in Antarctica that have been on-going for decades; the Lunar Research Park effort would draw on Antarctic experience and lessons learned as much as practical. The Lunar Research Park concept can also be done in a staged, go-as-you-pay type of combined effort. It is worth considering.

Dave, how do the other countries respond to this initiative? Are they participating?

Going back to Moon, not a bad idea!

It's an interesting idea. I do have a couple of concerns though.

How would a program such as this screen who populates this colony? Where things become systematic, the probability of corruption increases due to loop-holes in the system which can be exploited.

Secondly, the moon base could be targeted just as easily as a base on any country or island.

Third, if we cannot take the initiative we need to on earth to solve our own problems, wouldn't we just take our problems with us?

It is ambitious and inspirational to think about, but I think we need to understand the human condition and work out the kinks before we spread ourselves through space.

When humans are evolved enough, we'll be able to achieve anything--even creating time-space vehicles in the 5th dimension. Theoretical physics will be the norm and we'll only be limited by imagination (much like now, but our consciousness will be expanded if we reach this point in evolution).

How to provoke the people to invent something radically new when there are the rockets at use, the whole business ecosystem is focused on the rockets?

How to provoke the people to change the way they live when there is in use existing order of how the things are being done?

No matter what method is being used to introduce changes in our society for the others to copy, we need to do something novel to change the world. And, by changing it, we need to bring in new perspectives, new goals, higher expectations from the future. We need higher goals in order to evolve, not to collapse because of the degradation of the current social structures.

It is an interesting idea. The moon colony, would indeed increase the amount of companies, however. Would most of the companies be in the United States of America. We import so much from China and Japan. Would we just stop Importing from them to make companies in the United States to make components. Also how would we trade on the moon?
