Sandijs AploksThat person who will first fly in private space trip around the Moon will get popularity big enough to become next president of the USA.

There was time, when nobody was living in such luxury than we do today. Still, people were flying into the space, to the Moon. What's wrong with us?

How to motivate people to achieve more, to get into the new adventures? By confident speeches, or, perhaps, by example of our leaders?

Exemplary support of the scientific and technological progress, bravery to fly around the Moon for your country could influence people's preferences towards leader with usually unexpected qualities for the politician.

Modern world needs leader who is smart and does have futuristic thinking. Only then we will have a chance to solve modern crisis, to evolve into something more.

The leader brave and smart enough to fly to the Moon will be able to formulate and deliver the idea about the future Earth to the public in a way it accepts that idea. By showing example to the others.

I'd vote YES on this.

John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth, was not able to win his party's nomination for president in 1984, finishing far behind Walter Mondale. Harrison Schmidt of Apollo 17 was able to be elected to one term in the US Senate. None of the other Apollo astronauts acquired enough popularity to be elected to office, granted most of them probably had no interest in elected office. It takes more than a spaceflight to reach the White House.

Perhaps a President who has other outstanding credentials such as an esteemed military service, varied participation in civil or philanthropic projects, is very learned but very pragmatic at the same time. These would be very attractive attributes that might garner tremendous popularity for said individual. The country certainly does not need another Ivy league educated lawyer in the oval office.
