Job Description

Role:

 

The tasks of the Consultant will typically include:

• Generation of Sentinel-3 M&C requirement specifications and liaison with the operational users for the definition of the requirements baseline.

• Follow up the Sentinel-3 M&C procurement to make sure that the delivery fits the intended purpose.

• Support the Sentinel-3 M&C ground segment team and the ground segment manager.

• Interact with suppliers and partner organisations (e.g. ESOC).

• Participation to the Reviews for the Monitoring and Control System and interfacing facilities.

• Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings.

• Analysis and review of any relevant Sentinel-3 documentation.

Participation to Sentinel-3 M&C Monitoring and Control System facilities testing and related activities on facility as well as on system level.

• Analysis of test results and test reports on facility as well as on system level in particular with respect to their suitability for requirement verification and validation.

• Installation of the Sentinel-3 M&C Monitoring and Control System at EUMETSAT, while fulfilling the configuration management requirements.

• Verification of correct facility installation.

Monitor and, where applicable, steer the lifecycle for all related anomaly reports (ARs) / non-conformance reports (NCRs).

• Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary.

Support the MTG programme for the definition and design of a multi-mission capable mission control system based on SCOS 2000.

 

 

Profile:

 

  • University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline,

  • Experience of spacecraft and/or ground segment procurement.

  • The consultant shall have a goal oriented

  • Good level of communication skills

  • Highly flexible integrated team

 

As a pre-requisite a demonstrated experience of five years in the following:

Mission Control System specifications / development and procurement within a space system.

In depth knowledge of a SCOS 2000 based Monitoring and Control System.knowledge of German – in order to be able to communicate with external suppliers - would be valuable and knowledge of French would be desirable.

• Low Earth Orbiting satellite monitoring & control.

• AIV related activities (test procedure generation, requirements verification and validation).

• UNIX operating system usage.

• Representation of an Organisation at another Organisation while understanding the diplomatic difficulties of such a role

 

It would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with some of the following:

 

• ECSS Space Engineering Standards, in particular those related to Mission Control.

• TM / TC Database design, implementation and testing.

• Operations Preparation.

• Ground segment monitoring & control.

• MOIS.

• LEO Spacecraft routine operations.

• On board software maintenance mechanism.

• CVS Version Control software.

• Dimensions Configuration Control software

 

  • conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner,

  • able to work calmly and correctly under stress

  • able to work with the minimum of supervision

  • English (working language) and French (asset)
