In support of ESA’s Technical and Quality Management Directorate at ESTEC we are looking for Database Engineer

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The candidate will provide on demand expertise in the following types of activity related to space system databases:

• Technical support on database requirement, architecture and implementation (including capability to exchange data with external systems);
• Technical support to project reviews, database development, verification and validation and utilisation;
• Support to utilisation and tailoring of standards in the database domain.

• For the software development aspects of such systems, support to specification, architecture, implementation, software problem solving, exchange and interfaces with external systems, project review;.
• For the utilization aspects of such systems, support in data modeling, verification of consistency and completeness of data, compliance with technical documentation, project reviews and problem solving.

Skills and Experience:

• A university degree in Informatics/Software Engineering, preferably with a specialisation in database technology;
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French is desirable;
• At least five years relevant experience in implementing complex
• information systems using ORACLE RDBMS tools;
• Knowledge of Space Systems and their associated database needs is necessary;
• Knowledge of formal methods and tools for database definition, design, development, verification and validation is a pre-requisite;
• An ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA and industrial counterparts is essential ;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
