Role:
The IT Network Engineer and Administrator, in the Information Technology Service Support Group, will perform system administration and maintenance of network equipment for the corporate ICT environment.
The foreseen detailed tasks, in order of relevance and to be shared with another team member, include as a minimum:
• Operate and Maintain the active components of the Network Infrastructure:
- Check logs regularly
- configure vlans
- add and remove network stacks
- monitor the network traffic
- control the access to the system
• Operate and Maintain Wireless Lan Infrastructure (hot spots and portal software):
- check regularly the log
- add and remove hot spots
- liaise with 3rd parties for support
- keep the system under configuration control
- monitor the network traffic
• Liaise with external parties for the operation and maintenance of the Security System (Firewalls, VPN and RSA Infrastructure)
• Monitor the Internet access service
- liaise with 3rd parties and ISP for support
- monitor the traffic
• Operate and Maintain the Technical rooms
- keep log book of activities
- liaise with 3rd parties (e.g. A/C, power)
- monitor power consumption
- plan and coordinate the removal and installation of racks and IT equipment
- monitor physical access
• Maintain network cable infrastructure (fibre and copper)
- plan and coordinate the installation of new cables
- troubleshoot connectivity issue due to fault wiring
• Provide physical network connectivity to IT equipment (servers, desktops, printers etc)
- activate and configure (vlan) network sockets
- patch devices
• Operate and Maintain the KVM system
- add and removal of servers to the system
- access control to the system (logs keeper)
• Provide user 2nd and 3rd level support for service requests and incidents linked to the Network system and the Infrastructure (cables, active components) and to the Internet access service
• Contribute to the procurement of information technology services, systems and components by providing specifications and performing price inquiries, as well as act as interface with hardware and software suppliers regarding procurement, warranty and maintenance issues.
The Infrastructure and Network monitoring and management is performed via COTS systems and appliances (CiscoWorks, Packeteer and APC management system)
In the performance of these tasks, the consultant shall apply the relevant system engineering standards, as well as procedures for:
• quality management;
• configuration and change control;
• system operations and maintenance.
Profile:
The consultant shall have preferably a University degree in Information Technology or comparable discipline (or equivalent professional experience) together with proven 3 years of experience as IT Network Engineer and Administrator in a demanding and heterogeneous computing environment.
Cisco certifications fields are considered an asset.
The consultant is required to have as a minimum:
• Good knowledge of and experience in operation and maintenance of a network infrastructure based on Cisco components.
• Hands on experience in the operation and maintenance of Wireless Lan Infrastructure (preferable from Cisco).
• Knowledge of and experience in using Cisco Works to operate and monitor the network system.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of Technical rooms. Sound knowledge of power distribution systems and cooling systems.
• Sound hand on experiences on operating a Network cabling infrastructure (configuration control, patching, media type etc).
• Working knowledge of and experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of KVM systems.
• Working knowledge of and experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of APC components.
In addition, the following aspects shall be considered an advantage:
• Hands on experience in the operation of HP Openview.
• Experience in a structured, ISO 9000 certified project and service environment.
• Knowledge of ITIL and hands on experience in change and configuration management.
•High degree of autonomy and the close interaction with users of the IT environment requires good communication skills
•customer-oriented approach with some experience co-ordinating IT related projects.
•English and French although the working language is English. |
