Do you want to be part of the space future? As support to the European Space Research & Technology Centre (ESTEC) we are looking for an ISS Sustaining Engineering Support

Activities

As Sustaining Engineering Support you will support the sustaining engineering and maintenance activities of the ESA ISS infrastructure elements and report to the Head of the Sustaining Engineering section. You specific tasks will include amongst others:

  • Facility Management for: Biolab, EMCS, PCDF-EU, MSG, MELFI, EPM. Oversight of the engineering activities of PFS under Damec.
  • Monitoring the industrial set-up for providing engineering services to each facility, e.g. Monitoring of local “Local ECB” function for controlling the baseline, especially the Engineering Data Base (EDB).
  • Assure proper Engineering Support to the USOC operating the facility. Oversight of the CFN/ART process managed by COL-CC/USOC.
  • Support to MRB, in close cooperation with the OPS-H PA & Safety Manager.
  • Facilitate Safety in the maintenance process, including submission of Safety Data Packages and Safety Assessments for review by the Safety authority.
  • Definition and update of Class 1 to Class 2 Interface Requirements as applicable.
  • Monitoring the integration of Class 2 payloads in the Class 1 facility and assuring that proper integration services will be provided by IOT, including support and availability of Class 1 engineering models.
  • Monitoring the development of operational constraints to be used to generate payload regulations, flight rules, etc (USOC responsibility)
  • Monitor the generation and update of payload ground and flight data bases
  • For bartered elements (e.g. MSG and MELFI), act as the primary focal point to NASA in the execution of the ESA Sustaining Engineering obligations
  • Coordinate with and support the logistic function as required for: Launch package integration, end-to-end logistics, maintenance planning, inventory management, etc.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in aerospace engineering, physics or other relevant degree
  • Several years of professional experience in the areas of sustaining engineering, facilities management and payload engineering
  • Space experience
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory; French is advantageous.

Starting date: September 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter
