Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Dissemination Services Team. Tasks will include:

• Maintenance, development and evolution of Internet Services and web applications;
• Analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of software functions;
• Analysis of the operational requirements and implementation of the tools;
• Provision of engineering level support to the User Service Web applications;
• Support the operation of the systems, monitoring the performance and, in case of anomalies, identifying and applying appropriate first-line corrective actions;
• Support the delivery of software, installation, configuration and testing.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline;
• Software development, operation and maintenance in highly available near-real- time systems using web technologies, Tomcat and Apache Web Server on UNIX;
• Java, Perl, scripting languages, XML. SML Schema and XSLT;
• Portal technologies, web application server and web security;
• OGC Standards such as CSW, WMS, WCS, WFS;
• IBM Rational Clear Case or SubVersion and UML2 (Enterprise Architect);
• Meteorological formats (NetCDF, HDF5, JPEG2000, BUFR, GRIB, MSG/ MTP/EPS);
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
