Job Description

As support to the European Space Operations Centre we are looking for a GNSS and Systems Expert

Activities

Our customer conducts mission operations for ESA satellites and establishes, operates and maintains the necessary ground segment infrastructure. You will be working on-site in the Navigation Systems Domain. Navigation Systems are related to Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and to high-precision orbit determination (POD) and related instrument validation for Low-Earth Orbiting (LEO) Spacecraft. They are operationally used, e.g. in support to Galileo, EGNOS, Metop and other projects.

The Navigation Systems are developed, operated and maintained as an infrastructure consisting of hardware and software components. As an experienced GNSS and Systems expert you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Definition and follow-up of study activities in the area of GNSS and POD systems
  • Definition and follow-up of investment activities
  • Identification of new activities and projects of interest in the Navigation System Domain of the Ground Systems Engineering Department (“OPS-GN”)
  • Writing proposals for new OPS-GN activities
  • Support to other experts in the team

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in mathematics, physics, informatics, computer science, space or any other relevant domain
  • Several years of experience and a detailed technical background in the above mentioned activities
  • • Your profound technical knowledge ideally includes:
    • GNSS system and receiver knowledge, GNSS receiver network management and GNSS data processing techniques
    • Space Geodesy Systems, Precise Orbit Determination Systems, GNSS Batch Analysis Systems and LEO Systems
  • Ideally, an understanding of relevant standards, including ECSS and CCSDS
  • Effective communication skills gained in a multinational and -cultural environment
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory; another European language would be advantageous.
