Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Data Processing System Team. Tasks will include:

• The development and maintenance of Earth Observation product extraction facilities
• Supporting operational processing systems both real-time and reprocessing
• Support the transition to a Technical Computing Environment (TCE)
• Provide documentation related to the development and maintenance activities.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in computer science or engineering
• Experience of developing and maintaining software data processing facilities within satellite in the field of meteorological satellite data processing/analysis
• Programming in C and C++, experience in FORTRAN, Java, PL/SQL or ProC
• Oracle Database programming (versions 8 or later)
• Basic system administration of systems using Sun Solaris 10
• User interface design and programming for example using X11 or Qt
• Tools for software design (UML), Formal software testing
• Source code control (ClearCase, CVS or Subversion)
• Configuration control and release management of complex software systems
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
