Do you want to be part of the space future? As support to a European space company we are looking for an IT Systems Engineer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Information Technology Service Support Group and will perform system administration and maintenance for the corporate ICT environment. Tasks will include:

  • Operate and maintain the Backup Service based on Symantec Netbackup
  • Identify, diagnose and debug problems related to our customer’s Backup and System Management infrastructures as well as assess, review, verify, validate and test system or components upgrades including lab and field trials,
  • Provide 2nd level user and technical support,
  • Install, configure, operate, administrate, and maintain IT Systems based on MS Windows server OS,
  • Identify, diagnose and debug problems related to MS Windows OS as well as assess, review, verify, validate and test system or components upgrades including lab and field trials.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in Information Technology or any other relevant degree
  • Several years of professional experience as IT Systems Engineer and Administrator
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in operation and maintenance of a backup infrastructure running on Symantec Netbackup 6.x. or later
  • Sound hands-on experience on snapshot technology (hardware and software), stage backup and synthetic backup
  • Demonstrated experience in backing up data from Microsoft and VMware environment from different storage infrastructures (SAN, NAS etc)
  • Working knowledge of and experience in storage infrastructure (preferable HP EVA)
  • Knowledge of and experience in installation, tuning, operation and maintenance of MS Windows Servers and in tuning and maintenance MS Active Directory
  • Knowledge of/experience in installation, tuning, operation and maintenance of Intel based servers and workstations (cluster, SAN, RAID array, fibre channel)
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory; German and French are advantageous
