Do you want to be part of the space future? As support to a European space organisation we are looking for a LEO Spacecraft Operations Engineer (AOCS)
Activities
Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. Join HE Space Operations and work on-site in the Control Centre Division that is part of the Operations Department. Your international team is mainly responsible for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) missions including in- orbit operations of the “Metop-A” weather satellite and operation preparation of “Metop- B”. Being responsible for the Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem (AOCS) operations you will implement AOCS procedures for in-orbit and future LEO spacecrafts. Furthermore, you will support the routine operations and preparation for upcoming LEO missions. This includes:
- Operation preparation: Development and maintenance of AOCS procedures and AOCS subsystem test procedures; preparation and validation of the procedures for the monitoring and early operations of the Metop-B AOCS operation
- Routine operation: activity planning/scheduling for the AOCS subsystem operation, maintenance of the set of AOCS procedures, raise and track of anomaly reports, support to ground segment operations, presentation of AOCS Operations to the Control Centre Team; on-call operations engineer rota.
Skills
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- First professional experience in some or all of the following areas:
- Spacecraft operation engineering experience
- Design engineering for attitude and orbit control of a three-axes spacecraft, i.e. experience in signal processing; automatic system with open loop or closed loop; control laws for linear or non-linear system OR algorithm development,
- test and validation
- Experience with development and validation of spacecraft operation procedures for nominal and contingency- recovery cases
- Engineering knowledge of a service module or the design of AOCS equipment would be an asset; familiarity with MATLAB and/or Unix would be an advantage
- Fluency in English language is mandatory; German and French are advantageous
