Do you want to be part of the space future? As support to a European space organisation we are looking for a Meteorological Product Software Engineer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Meteorological Division team. Tasks will include:

  • Supporting the design, implementation and validation of product algorithms
  • Analysing and resolving anomalies relating to the product generation software
  • Analysis of product change proposals
  • Documentation of changes related to product updates
  • Maintenance and update of product generation monitoring software
  • Provision of on-call and call-out support in order to ensure continuous operation

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related subject
  • Several years in the area of satellite remote sensing product generation
  • Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 90/95 in a Unix environment
  • Validation of meteorological products
  • IDL and/or PV-WAVE programming languages
  • Source code control systems, preferably Clear Case
  • Relational databases, preferably Oracle
  • Common meteorological data formats (i.e. BUFR, GRIB, HDF5)
  • Software development using C++/C, Solaris 10, Microsoft Office 2007 or later
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; some knowledge of French would be an asset.
