Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Computer Systems Management Team. Tasks will include:

• Support Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations
• Analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed systems
• Setting-up and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures
• Installation and configuration of operating system and other software
• Analysis, planning and performance of H/W and S/W upgrades or reconfigurations
• Monitoring of system performance, investigation into H/W and S/W problems
• Administration and installation of databases, administration of user accounts.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in computer science of a related discipline
• Administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems operational 24/7
• Expert knowledge and a significant work experience of the UNIX
• IBM Systems running AIX 6.1, pSeries and Bladecenters, IBM virtualization
• HMC, AMM, TCP/IP internetworking e.g. NIS, NFS, DNS, SNMP, FTP
• End-to-end system changes from requirements to testing and documentation
• High availability software IBM HACMP and cluster file system GPFS
• Good experience with the monitoring tool Nagios
• Fluency in English is mandatory; some knowledge of French would be an asset.
