Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Meteorological Operations Division Team. Tasks will include:

• Development of satellite data processing algorithm software for altimetry products;
• Development of satellite altimetry product quality monitoring tools;
• Reviewing altimetry product format and processing specifications;
• System Integration, Verification and Validation;
• Support to Cal /Val activities, product quality anomaly reports and investigation;
• Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline;
• Satellite altimetry data processing, visualisation, validation and/or quality control;
• Programming skills in FORTRAN and/or C++ in a Unix environment;
• Handling of satellite data products in netCDF format;
• Meteorological products in WMO BUFR and GRIB formats;
• Software configuration management (CVS or SVN);
• Data mining, Java, SQL;
• Knowledge of satellite altimeters, physical oceanography satellite radar applications;
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
