In support of ESA’s Technical and Quality Management Directorate at ESTEC we are looking for : Electrical & Functional AIT Engineer at Meteosat Second Generation
Tasks and Responsibilities:
In the frame of his/her assignment to the MSG (Meteosat Second Generation) Project the candidate shall take up the following responsibilities:
- Taking care of all aspects of the MSG 3 electrical AIT activities and associated Electrical Ground Segment Equipment (EGSE) tasks.
- Monitoring the AIT activities at satellite level, ensuring technical and programmatic consistency, following up of EGSE maintenance and refurbishment activities as well as participating in the MSG launch campaigns.
In particular, he/she will be responsible for
- Reviewing the industrial plans for satellite AIT and ensuring a rigorous, efficient and consistent approach is applied;
- Ensuring the proposed test plans at satellite and module levels fully reflect the specified verification needs;
- Actively following up the AIT activities at satellite level;
- Reviewing the satellite AIT scheduling to ensure realistic definition of timelines;
- Providing early warning of potential problem areas, and ensuring that appropriate mitigation actions are identified and implemented;
- Maintaining close coordination with engineering team members to ensure co-ordination of the MSG AIV and AIT activities;
- Providing support for the electrical and functional activities related to the launch preparation.
- Providing other general support to the project as required.
The candidate will report to the Satellite AIT/AIV Manager.
Skills and Experience:
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent;
- Experience on spacecraft AIT campaigns on other ESA missions.
- Leadership capabilities and the capacity to apply analytical and sound judgement in resolving problems. Strong negotiation skills are also necessary.
- The function will require availability to witness tests and to participate to AIT activities for relatively long periods abroad;
- Good communications and interpersonal skills;
- Willingness to operate in an international team;
- Fluent in English; knowledge of another ESA Member State language is an asset.
Starting date: February 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter
