| Job Description |
The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMIB) wants to hire a remote sensing scientist for the estimation of the surface turbulent heat fluxes from high resolution satellite measurements. A one year contract is proposed with possibility of extension.
The RMIB is responsible for the determination of the surface turbulent fluxes of sensible and latent heat (related to evapotranspiration, ET) from the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellite in the context of the EUMETSAT Land Surface Analysis Satellite Application Facility, see http://landsaf.meteo.pt. MSG has a relatively low spatial resolution of 3 km at nadir.
Your job will consist in the adaptation of the model to use as input MODIS data with a resolution of 250 m in the visible bands to improve the resolution and the accuracy of the MSG ET product. SPOT-VEG data will also be considered. This work will be carried out in preparation of using high resolution data from the planned PROBA-V (vegetation) satellite.
