As support to a European space company we are looking for a Software Engineer for Galileo “Precise Timing Facility”

Activities

Our customer is a European leading system house. They are responsible for the Precise Timing Facility (PTF) for Europe’s satellite positioning system Galileo. The major purpose of the PTF is to generate, maintain, and distribute Galileo System Time (GST).

The PTF consists of an ensemble of atomic clocks with appropriate time and frequency measurement equipment and S/W filtering algorithms. The hardware including the clocks and some of the 19’’ racks are already installed in the Clock Room of the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen. The Software (S/W) has already been implemented at a subcontractor in Bratislava according to Galileo Software Standard (GSWS). In your role, you will be supervising the software integration and validation of the
subcontractor. This includes:

  • Supervision of the S/W subcontractor during implementation of processes according to GSWS
  • Supervision of the S/W subcontractor during S/W validation, carry out progress control, check S/W Problem Reports during weekly telecons
  • Check the delivered project documentation, develop comments for project reviews
  • Participate in upcoming project reviews (S/W CDR, S/W QR, S/W AR)
  • Support the S/W integration in the Control Center together with the subcontractor, make the S/W operational, follow-up problems, document all work and test results
  • Control the configuration management of the subcontractor

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree, e.g. in Computer Science or Aerospace Engineering
  • Several years of experience in S/W validation and implementation
  • Knowledge of GST/GGTO S/W (design assurance level D, programming in C, operating system LynxOS 178B) and of monitoring and control software (design assurance level E, Java, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0) as well as of communication protocols (TCP/IP, RS 232, TFTP, SNTP, SNMP, FTP) advantageous
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; German would be an asset
