Do you want to be part of the space future? As support to a European space organisation we are looking for an ERA-CLIM Implementation Engineer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the European Re-Analysis of Global Climatic Observations Project Team. Tasks will include:

• ERA-CLIM will develop observational datasets suitable for global climate studies;
• Product and algorithm specifications for all ERA-CLIM data sets;
• Implementation of operational product processing chains
• Implementation of operational processors for the ERA-CLIM products;
• Development of operational functional and product quality monitoring procedures;
• Support of the validation of ERA-CLIM products.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in remote sensing or in a relevant discipline;
• Several years in the implementation of software for satellite derived products;
• Validation of satellite products;
• Meteosat missions and instruments;
• UNIX application development and testing in C and C++;
• Experience in Fortran 90/95 and in scientific processing in general;
• IDL, Matlab, Python, Perl, Tcl/Tk, shell;
• Software build environments and tools e.g. make, imake, debuggers, insure++;
• Source code control systems, such as Subversion, Rational ClearCase or CVS;
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
