As support to a European space company we are looking for a Power Electronics System Engineer
Activities
Our customer is a European system house, specialised in development and implementation of solutions for aerospace. You will be working on-site, responsible for:
- Requirements/architecture analysis at electronic function and electronics board level
- Analysis of design (parts stress analysis, worst case analysis, failure modes and criticality analysis, radiation analysis, etc); Stability analysis of control loops; Assessment of EMC performances of the power subsystems, equipments, boards
- Specification of the electronics design physical implementation
- Review of design documentation; laboratory & prototype testing
- Preparation of test procedures for the design characterization and manufacturing acceptance; specification of necessary test benches; board level testing; test reports
- Preparation of technical proposals answering customer specifications;
- Technical lead of engineers in close cooperation with the project manager
- Deriving from satellite mission requirements the power system requirements, trade- off analysis of critical dimensioning parameters
Skills
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Several years of Electronics design & engineering experience in most of the following areas of power electronics:
- DC/DC power converter design in classical topologies (buck, boost, flyback, forward, push-pull, full bridge, half bridge, SMART, current doubler, etc. including control loop and stability analysis.)
- Equipments to distribute protected supply lines to spacecraft power users: latching current limiters, foldback current limiters, heater drivers, pyrotechnics line drivers
- Power control units to manage the power from the primary power source (solar arrays) to the distribution bus and also to charge / discharge the secondary power source (batteries)
- Solar array regulators with the different regulation techniques
- Battery management electronics, battery charge and discharge controllers.
- Motor driving electronics: stepper motors, linear motors, brushless motors, torquer motors, etc.), and actuators driving electronics
- High voltage power electronics, AC distribution, etc.
- Design of magnetic components; EMC analysis, EMC testing
- Digital design for the TM/TC interfaces of the power electronics
- Analog design for the voltage, current and temperature acquisition chains related to the power electronics subsystem
- Fluency in English and German languages is mandatory
Starting date: March 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter
