As support to a European space organisation we are looking for a Data Centre Systems Engineer Test & EO Product Operations

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working as a member of the Data Centre Team to support following tasks/areas:

• Regression testing of new operating system and operational software releases
• Continually define and implement new tests
• Execute tests and validate test results, using test tools and shell scripts
• Prepare documentation for configuration control
• Prepare release notes and user announcements after testing
• Contribute to the definition of future delivery formats
• Develop methods to visualise/analyse the products through adapting existing standard image visualisation and analysis software
• Respond to Data Centre users’ technical enquiries and requests
• Support to the visualisation needs for user service training activities
• Perform the analysis and the reporting of anomalies in the archive system
• End to end testing with other facilities for new services and programmes
• Enhance and configure the monitoring and the performance reporting of the archive system using existing tools
• Provide and maintain Data Centre documentation; user guides, format guides, operational procedures, technical notes, etc.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree in software engineering or equivalent
• Several years of professional experience in the field of UNIX operating system, programming in shell script and/or Perl as well as in writing test plans, using test tools and test automation, ideally in an operations environment
• Experience in working with Earth Observation data and image visualization tools
• Knowledge of formats used for geospatial data such as NetCDF and HDF
• Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills
• Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset
