HE Space Operations is a growing international space company. For over 25 years we have provided our customers with consultancy services in Engineering and Business Administration.

As support to a European space company we are looking for a EPS Operations Engineer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite
data, images and products for its users. You will be working onsite as part of the
Meteorological Operations Division. Your tasks will include:

  • Participate in the operations preparation, launch and commissioning phases of EPS
  • Collecting information from the following systems to perform regular production and quality monitoring reports:
    • EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS) processing chains
    • EPS product quality monitoring (ARGUS)
    • Cal /Val Facility (CVF)
  • Performing off-line analysis of product quality using ARGUS and the CVF
  • Maintaining product databases
  • Elaborating, tracking and publishing service level quality indicators
  • Reporting anomalies in product services, contribute to their diagnosis and track their resolution
  • Supporting the Metop-B launch preparation and commissioning phases
  • Support to reprocessing activities
  • Maintaining contact with users to obtain their feedback on product service quality
  • Maintaining WWW page content on system status and service quality indicators
  • Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings
  • Participation in formal reviews

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline
  • Several years of professional experience in the operational use and quality control of satellite or meteorological data. Specifically, experience in:
    • Quality control of satellite data and products
    • Utilisation of satellite or meteorological products
    • Configuration control of software and data
    • Production monitoring and reporting
    • Operational product processing environments
    • Oracle databases and SQL
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset
