As support to a European space company we are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer for Earth Observation Instruments Telescope
Activities
Our customer is a European leading system house, specialised in development and implementation of high technology solutions for aerospace, science and industry. In your role as Lead Systems Engineer you will understand yourself as a team player within the project management & administration and in cooperation with PA/QA and the AIT department. As final technical management instance you will be responsible for:
- Filling of the systems engineering role at telescope S/S level of an optical instrument/payload and acting as technical system representative to the customer
- Take over the lead engineering and verification responsibility starting with phase B2, and technically manage the instrument telescope part of the project during phase B/C/D and E through preliminary and detailed design phase as well as the MAIT phase
- Technical management of an engineering team at system level
- You will familiarize with existing in-house standards and contribute to further improvement of processes and procedures in a growing company environment
Skills
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- Multiple years of experience within projects of comparable personal expertise
- Thorough knowledge of systems engineering at telescope S/S level of an optical instrument/payload; profound experience of systems engineering processes
- Experience in Space Optics and Optical Instruments, especially in the telescope part (optics, mechanics, thermal) and in handling of high performance Earth observation instruments
- Fundamental knowledge of system engineering guidelines (e.g. ECSS)
- Solid heritage / background in the system engineering main fields (e.g. Integration & Control, Requirements, Analysis, Design & Configuration incl. I/F’s, Verification) and their interaction with neighbouring disciplines (e.g. management, development & MAIT, operations & logistics and product assurance)
- Personal integrity in delegating and monitoring systems engineering tasks and in harmonizing the interaction between the involved parties
- Fluency in English is mandatory; German would be an asset
