Java EE Development and
Oracle Administration Engineer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite
data, images and products for its users. You will be working onsite as part of the
Enterprise Data and Application Team. Your tasks will include:

• Design, implement, maintain, test and deliver applications based on Java/JEE and partially using Oracle Universal Content Management System;
• Install, configure, monitor, optimise and administer Oracle Databases;
• Support Oracle database design and data migration;
• Implement and maintain scripts and/or procedures where applicable for the automated and/or controlled execution of the above activities;
• Install, configure, monitor, optimise and administer Oracle Application Servers;
• Specify, customise, integrate and maintain client-server based COTS systems and document the customisation and integration;
• Maintain, test and deliver PHP based applications;
• Provide second level support for existing applications, systems and services;
• Gather and document user and system requirements and constraints;
• Document the tasks and deliverables according to working practices;
• Perform quality assurance, configuration and change management activities;
• Contribute to project planning and reporting.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree in a relevant discipline;
• Several years of experience in the design, implementation, integration and testing of internet and intranet applications using Java EE and Oracle databases as well as in JSF/Facelets, JSP, Servlets and JPA/Hibernate;
• Good knowledge of Oracle (10g/11g) database administration;
• Knowledge of XML, (X)HTML, CSS, Ajax and JavaScript, XSLT, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL;
• Experience in Weblogic 11g and Glassfish v2/v3 administration and in maintaining PHP applications;
• Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills;
• Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset.
