As support to a European space company we are looking for a Meteorological Product Software Engineer
Activities
Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working onsite as a member of the Integration Section. Your tasks will include:
- Design, implementation and validation of new algorithms and Day-2 Product Processors;
- Analysis of significant product change proposals;
- Documentation of changes related to product updates;
- Preparation of technical notes on product implementation issues;
- Maintenance and update of product generation monitoring software;
- Support to the validation of meteorological products during commissioning and routine operations;
- Investigation and resolution of product processing anomalies.
Skills
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree in computer science, physics or in an equivalent field;
- Several years of professional experience in operational processing of satellite or meteorological data;
- Good knowledge of
- The development of operational software using Fortran and/or C and preferably C++ in a UNIX environment;
- Validation of meteorological products;
- Configuration control of software and data;
- Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification;
- Knowledge of mathematical modeling and scientific computing, operational environments, visualization/prototyping tools such as IDL or Matlab as well as radiative transfer models and Optimal Estimation Methods for remote sensing advantageous;
- Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills;
- Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset.
