Web Application Developer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite
data, images and products for its users. You will be working onsite as part of the Polar
Platform System Division. Your tasks will include:

• Design, implement and maintain web content and services in Internet, Intranet and Extranet systems across distributed websites, using HTML, Java-script & XML
• Design and implement web Human-Computer Interface logic and their related layout. For these tasks direct coding without support of dedicated Web design and implementation tools is required.
• Extranet development and maintenance
• Web development and Web Contents Management

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree in a relevant discipline
• Extensive experience in designing, implementing and maintaining web content and services in Internet, Intranet and Extranet systems across distributed web sites, using HTML, Java-script and XML
• Experience in designing and implementing web Human-Computer Interface logic and their related layout
• Proven knowledge of JavaScript (in particular familiarity with browser-specific support and bugs)
• Experience in using RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL) and metadata management for documentation system based on the extranet
• Extensive experience in PHP for Extranet development and maintenance
• Knowledge of web server (C)OTS (i.e. Apache)
• Web Development experience on Windows
• Experience of further web application programming languages and environments, CGI coded in C, Perl script
• Experience of Web Contents Management Systems (especially Stellent) and Web Collaboration Tools
• User experiences with a Windows XP environment and MS-Office applications
• Good personal communication skills to interact with groups/staff responsible for content generation, and/or for providing requirements for new applications
• Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset
