| Job Description |
In support to a European space company we are looking for a IT Database Engineer
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- For data base specific tasks an IT database specialist is needed to support the IT team.
- The used database systems MySQL v5 and above and Oracle v9 and above need to be maintained, optimized and documented. The administrator will also support the implementation of additional new systems with integrated interfaces to our database systems. Daily checks, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and backup tasks on all used databases are also part of this workpackage. A concept containing contingency operations need to be developed. Training for the IT team needs to be provided on the developed concepts, procedures and tasks based on the documentation to be delivered.
- Administration of operational MySQL and Oracle databases
- Execution of ad-hoc analysis
- Analisys of failures troubleshooting
- Monitoring of slow-logs and query optimazation
- Monitoring and optimazation o0f the performance of existing databases
- Execution of performance and stress tests
- Creation of an inventory and documentation of existing databases, tables, independencies as well as maintenance of the Documentation in German and English
- Development of concepts for improving reliability of database systems
- Development of contingency concepts
- Attendance to on-call duty
- Provide training regarding the use and maintenance of databases
- Supporting tender preparations
- Planning, development and implementation of database concepts for future projects.
Skills and Experience:
- University degree in a relevant discipline or several years of professional experience in performing the required tasks;
- Several years of professional experience in operational, highly reliable IT environments (e.g. in ground segments for space projects);
- Several years of professional experience with database engineering (administration, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting and optimization);
- Willingness to provide on-call support;
- Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills;
- Fluency in English is mandatory; German would be a strong asset;
- Security clearance up to “secret” would be an asset.
