As support to a European space company we are looking for a Meteorological Product Software Engineer
Activities
Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working onsite in the Meteorological Operations Division as a member of the Surface and Atmospheric Sounding Section.
Your tasks will include:
- You will be part of a small team focussed on developing radio occultation processing, monitoring and analysis software, where the implementation of new features is driven by a scientific prototype in an agile development environment.
- Design, implementation and validation of operational processing, monitoring and product validation software, initially for the GRAS radio occultation instrument, including the verification and integration of third party software for the instrument processing software
- Analysis and resolution of anomalies relating to the product generation and monitoring software
- Support the reprocessing of radio occultation data in general.
Skills
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree in computer science, physics or in an equivalent field
- Several years of professional experience in the design, implementation and validation of operational processing, monitoring and product validation software
- Familiarity with the GRAS radio occultation instrument
- Experience with software verification and integration
- Good knowledge of
- The development of operational software using Fortran and/or C and preferably C++ in a UNIX environment
- Validation of meteorological products
- Configuration control of software and data
- Familiarity with atmospheric sounding
- Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills
- Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset.
