In support to a European space company we are looking for a GMES Sentinel-3 Infrastructure Engineer
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working onsite as an Infrastructure Engineer for GMES Sentinel-3 (S-3) to support following tasks/areas:
- Define the S-3 requirements specifications on operational infrastructure, covering the building infrastructure and SNI (Storage Network Infrastructure) aspects;
- Perform engineering budget for the operational rooms in terms of square meters, power, cooling capacity, etc.;
- Contribute to the definition of the layouts in the operational rooms;
- Perform the physical installation of infrastructure for the S-3 equipment installation i.e. cables, interface panels, network devices, etc.;
- Generate and maintain installation documentation, including layout diagrams, Infrastructure Interface Control Documents, cabling database, network diagrams;
- Evaluate compatibility of the Storage Area Network (SAN) solution proposed by the S-3 programme with the existing SNI operational system;
- Liaison with the external providers of SNI H/W and S/W maintenance;
- Provision of stand-by/on-call support as required;
- Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews;
- Provision of support, as required, to critical operations during system commissioning operations.
Skills and Experience:
- University degree in a relevant discipline;
- Several years of professional experience in the field of building infrastructure and SAN environments;
- Familiarity with installation documentation, including layout diagrams, Infrastructure Interface Control Documents, cabling database, network diagrams;
- Ability to work independently as well as attention to details;
- Fluency in English is mandatory; French would be an asset.
Starting date: January 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter.
