In support to a European space company we are looking for an AIT Mechanical Engineer

In this position you shall be responsible for the design and implementation of mechanical
integration processes of one of large space projects. Your area of responsibility also
includes the definition and procurement of the mechanical ground segment equipment
(MGSE) for integration and tests.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Independent concept and design of the mechanical integration procedures in one of the large space projects in compliance with functional requirements and cost plans
• Support of the Project and System Engineering Teams throughout all project phases with regard to mechanical AIT aspects, such as establishing integration sequences and test definition of the system and its subassemblies
• Definition of the MGSE in compliance with technical parameters and cost requirements
• Issue and compilation of MGSE-Specifications for sub-contracting and supervision of detailed design, production and acceptance at the supplier’s premises
• Independent implementation of mechanical integration and test activities
• Coordination with other Engineering sectors involved in the project, such as
• Electronics, Optics and Production
• Preparation and implementation of standard AIT boards such as TRR, PTR and TRB, participation in cross-project reviews
• Timely preparation and compilation of required AIT documents, such as AIT plans, procedures and test reports
• In cooperation with Product Assurance: conducting inspections, keeping log-sheet records, compilation of nonconformance and problem reports.

Skills and Experience:

• University degree in a technical field, Certified Engineer, Certified Technician or Master Craftsman Certificate, preferably with major focus on Optical Systems
• Practical experience as AIT Operator, Assembler in prototype construction or similar position
• Organised and structured task approach, high degree of motivation and personal identification with the respective project
• Ability to accomplish set goals by remaining calm and working purposefully even under time pressure
• Good communication skills, willingness to work in a team
• Ideally, working experience in a similar position dealing with ESA or DLR (German Aerospace Centre) projects in Phase CD
• Experience with integration and test procedures for optical systems is an asset.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; German would be a strong asset;
