Job Description

HE Space Operations is a growing international space company. For over 25 years we
have provided our customers with consultancy services in Engineering and Business
Administration.

As support to the European Space Operations Centre we are looking for an
Operational Mission Control System(MSC) Development, Test and Validation Engineer

Activities

Our customer conducts mission operations for ESA satellites and establishes, operates
and maintains the necessary ground segment infrastructure. You will be responsible for
the definition, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of mission control
systems. Your main tasks will include:

  • Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users
  • Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties
  • Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements
  • Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches
  • Coordination with other internal and external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the information and communication technology (ICT) systems and services
  • Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
  • You possess skills and expertise in the following areas:
    • Mission Control System, its environment and the relevant infrastructure. This includes areas such as mission, planning, automation, operational database, archiving, data distribution, etc.
    • ESOC software engineering methodology and standards
    • Modern computer languages such as C, C++, Java, UML, XML, SQL
    • ESOC software development environments and systems, including DOORS, and relevant operating systems, including LINUX
    • SCOS-2000 based MCS development and testing
  • Experience in operational Simulator is an asset
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
