Do you want to be part of the space future? As support to a European space organisation we are looking for a System Software Engineer of Archive and Retrieval
Activities
Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Data Access Team.
Tasks will include:
- Support to the operation of UNIX based archive and retrieval system (U-MARF)
- Analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of software functions
- Support to policies and procedures, procurement of hardware/software and co-ordination with external suppliers
- Configuration management, delivery support, installation and testing
- Image data ingestion handling of new formats
- Investigation and solving of anomalies.
Skills
You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree or equivalent in computer science or engineering
- At least 5 years software development for data processing systems
- Extensive professional experience with UNIX SVR4, SUN Solaris
- TCP/IP and Web services
- Java, Java Swing, C/C++ (STL), Perl, XML, XML Schema, XSLT, Eclipse
- Code control (SubVersion), configuration control
- Formalised software testing, unit testing framework (JUnit)
- Meteorological image data formats and data handling
- Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
