Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Data Access Team.

Tasks will include:

• Support to the operation of UNIX based archive and retrieval system (U-MARF)
• Analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of software functions
• Support to policies and procedures, procurement of hardware/software and co-ordination with external suppliers
• Configuration management, delivery support, installation and testing
• Image data ingestion handling of new formats
• Investigation and solving of anomalies.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in computer science or engineering
• At least 5 years software development for data processing systems
• Extensive professional experience with UNIX SVR4, SUN Solaris
• TCP/IP and Web services
• Java, Java Swing, C/C++ (STL), Perl, XML, XML Schema, XSLT, Eclipse
• Code control (SubVersion), configuration control
• Formalised software testing, unit testing framework (JUnit)
• Meteorological image data formats and data handling
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
