As support to a European space company we are looking for a Project Manager of External Payload Development for the ISS

Activities

Our customer is a European leader in exciting and technologically sophisticated space projects. You will be working on-site as a Project Manager in the area of external payloads for the International Space Station (ISS). Manage the development including Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) of the flight segment of the “ACES” payload. This challenging role involves the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and verification of the flight segment including AIT management considering cost and time requirements
  • Development and implementation of time and resource plans
  • Risk management
  • Technical coordination between customers, systems engineering and subcontractors
  • Prepare and support negotiations with customers, implement changes according to the internal change management
  • Coordination of all internal and external project activities
  • Adapt and implement relevant processes for Engineering and Product Assurance
  • Coordinate subsystem reviews and system reviews

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in a space or software discipline
  • At least 10 years of professional experience including 3 years of experience in project management is mandatory, ideally in Microgravity or Human Spaceflight
  • Experience in the project development phase on system level
  • Experience in coordinating a development team consisting of various technical disciplines and diverse subcontractors
  • System Engineering knowledge in the area of scientific payloads with focus on AIT will be appreciated
  • Knowledge in the specific requirements of ISS test facilities, especially in Product Assurance and Safety is advantageous
  • Experience in technical documentation like specifications, analyses or reports
  • Experience with design and acceptance reviews
  • Proven leadership skills, excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory, French and German advantageous
