Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Maintenance and Engineering Computer System Management team. Tasks will include:

• Support the operational computer systems running Windows 2003 Server / XP
• Investigate and solve problems with HW, SW and network
• Implement and manage backup and restore strategies and security policy
• Devise and implement system enhancements and evolution strategies
• Tuning of system parameters to optimise performance
• Administration of user accounts and COTS software licences.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in IT, computer science or engineering
• 3 years professional experience supporting operational systems running 24/7
• Microsoft Windows 2003 server and XP operating system administration
• Oracle database management
• Iona Orbix implementation of the Corba standard
• TCP/IP services under Windows 2003 server and XP
• Microsoft Studio version 5 and 6, us eof Visual Source Safe
• Programming in C++, Java and FORTRAN
• Tools: ILOG Views, Sphinx PV-Wave, TS-Wave, .NET and MS Office
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
