UNIX Application Software Engineer

Activities

Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products for its users. You will be working on-site as a member of the Data Processing System Team. Tasks will include:

• The development of Earth Observation product extraction facilities
• Supporting operational processing systems both real-time and reprocessing
• Implement enhancements and corrections to product extraction systems
• Support the day-to-day operation of the product processing systems.

Skills

You ideally have the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or equivalent in computer science or engineering
• Experience of developing and maintaining data processing facilities within satellite EO ground segment systems
• Extensive work experience of UNIX like operating system environments
• C, C++ and Java programming
• Oracle Database programming (10g and 11g)
• System level network programming (Sockets, TCP/IP and UDP)
• User interface design and programming (Qt)
• Source code control systems (ClearCase, Subversion)
• Configuration control and release management of complex software systems
• Basic system administration (Solaris, Linux)
• Fluency in English is mandatory, some knowledge of French would be an asset.
