Job Description

ESA’s Research and Scientific Support Department (SRE-S) located at ESTEC and the Science Operations Department (SRE-O) located at ESAC make extensive use of a Livelink ECM system to provide document management facilities, together with other tools to aid cooperation over geographically dispersed communities. In addition, Livelink is used not only by ESA personnel but also by a large community of external users, most importantly the Planck science community by means of the IDIS portal. To support the team at ESTEC we are looking for: Livelink Support Administrator

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Science Operations IT environment consists of several Unix based servers, storage and backup facilities and a high performance GRID system.

The specific duties include:

  • Installation of Livelink upgrades,
  • General Livelink maintenance (incl. security updates, tuning and regular health checks),
  • Provide Livelink helpdesk support, training and documentation,
  • Assist Livelink project coordinators in non-routine tasks,
  • Support of the IDIS portal as far as the Livelink usage is concerned,
  • Installation, upgrade and maintenance of the Open Directory service,
  • Provide design, coding and documentation of the Talos sub-system for publication database access,
  • Supporting the system administration activities in SRE-S,
  • Exceptionally, the candidate will be asked to carry out duties out-of-hours, on weekends and public holidays (e.g. emergency repair or routing maintenance).

Skills and Experience:

  • University degree in computing or software engineering, or equivalent;
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of another ESA member state language is an asset
  • Several years of experience in document management system with Livelink inparticular,
  • Thorough knowledge in Open directory (LDAP) services,
  • Experience in designing and coding Talos modules,
  • Experience and knowledge in Unix system support,
  • Experience in interacting with the science community would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to operate in a team environment and to travel,
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Starting date: November 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter
